Mermaid II (finished at last)

Vanessa, since you asked, here it is. Sorry, the colors are a bit whited out by the flash. Compositionally, there are several things I'd change if I were to paint this one over again, but I learned a lot from it none the less.

The inspiration wasn't drawn from any one well.

Gustav Klimt is a strong influence on this work (the gold leaf and his Water Serpent paintings in particular).

I've always had a strong interest in mythology, symbols, and supernatural creatures; my wife particularly loves mermaids, so it was a perfect subject for a painting.

This is the second in a three (or more?) painting series. The first one sold last year (I have pictures of it somewhere), and I just bought a canvas for the third one.
